Golf Movies For Rainy Days

With the unpredictable New England weather these past few weeks, golf has been scarce.

So while you’re at home wishing the rain storms would clear up, throw on a movie, but get your golf fix at the same time.

Here are five golf movies to watch on the next rainy day, which will probably be tomorrow.

  1. Happy Gilmore

Movies

  • If you consider yourself a golfer, and from New England, you have to have seen this. With New England Native Adam Sandler as the star, this golf comedy is everything a movie needs to be an instant classic. If you are this far into the article and haven’t seen the movie, close your browser and go watch it. It is by far my favorite golf movie and should be yours as well. “Happy Gilmoring” a drive has become a known thing. Even the non-golfer fan knows how to hit a golf ball Happy Gilmore style.
  1. Caddyshack

Movies

  • I’ll admit it, I didn’t like this movie as much as it was hyped up to be. But with that being said, it has some really funny moments and a lot of golf based humor everyone can enjoy. My big problem with the movie was that it was older humor. It came out in 1980 so the humor and the angle of the humor is a bit old school.
  1. Tin Cup

Movies

  • A tad on the longer side of movies, but a classic is Tin Cup. A golfer that is way past his prime who works at a rundown driving range just collecting pay checks. But to win over a girls heart, he tries to qualify for the U.S. Open and win her heart over.
  1. Little Loopers

Movies

  • I stumbled upon this one on Netflix. Flipping through terrible low budget movies no one watches, I saw a title that had to do with golf. And surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad. It is about a group of kids who are at an after school program to learn golf, but the instructor is a former golf professional whose life is kind of in shambles. IMBD call it “Bad News Bears” meets golf.
  1. The Legend of Bagger Vance

    Movies
    Will Smith & Matt Damon
  • A star studded cast makes up one of the best golf movies there is to offer. A war veteran, Matt Damon, is taught the beauty of the game of golf by his caddie, Will Smith. Smith teaches him life lessons all throughout the movie, with golf as his vehicle.

Get your golf fix in with some movies the next rainy day.
