Jordan Spieth is the Most Important Golfer in the World
The Dual Between spieth and johnson
Jordan Spieth has been in the news a lot this PGA Tour season. The young stud has had himself quite the 2017 campaign.
It started off at in June when Spieth made his Travelers championship debut.
Not only was this huge for the tournament and the number of people who came out to watch, it was a huge jump start for Spieth. We all know the shot. We will be talking about it for years.
In a playoff with Daniel Berger, Spieth holed out one of the greatest bunker shots in recent history. Piggy backing off of that win, Spieth headed across the pond to The Open.
Again, we all know the amazing heroics he pulled there. He had a round that our grandkids will be talking about.
So with all that, you would think Spieth was setup greatly for the playoffs.
In the first playoff event, Spieth found himself in a dog fight with Dustin Johnson on Sunday. And guess what?
One of them hit a shot we will be talking about for years to come.
This time, it wasn’t Spieth.
On the opening playoff hole, 18, the two players took very different approaches to the hole.
One, Spieth, hit a driver down the middle of the fairway and set himself up nicely with a 7 iron into the green.
Johnson? He had plans so he was trying to win it.
As the wind played in his favor, Johnson boldly took on the water of the par four and flew it with a 341-yard drive. Nothing special.
That set him up with a lob wedge that he put to four feet, eventually hitting it for the win.
This was another example of Spieth creating great drama on the PGA Tour.
Although he may not be the world number one, he may be the most important golfer on the PGA tour right now.
