Stephen Curry’s Pro Golf Debut was a Huge Success
Curry Proves Haters Wrong
When people heard Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry was taking a stab at the Web.com tour, some laughed and some were angry.
At first people thought he was taking the place of an able golfer who does this for his career.
But once that was cleared up many people, like myself were excited to see how he would fare against pro golfers, and on a course in tournament condition.
The venue was TPC Stonebrae and he tried his best, but came just short.
Curry went out in the opening round in very tough conditions and shot a 74.
Not bad for a basketball player.
“For me, just to hit some good shots, get tested with my nerves, and kind of understanding what it’s like to play tournament golf on a big stage,” Curry said. “It was an unbelievable experience, and the environment out here was crazy.”
On day two, he stayed consistent and shot another 74, but missed the cut.
The golf world was shocked and the guy in his group Friday even said if he shot below 80 he would eat his bag.
Lets just say he tried and didn’t get too far.

Many of the PGA Tour guys reached out to Curry and congratulated him on the rounds no one thought he was going to have.
He said he actually checked social media to see what people were saying online about his rounds, unlike basketball.
“So that was cool just to kind of set a little fire in that regard. … I love to play golf, but I don’t live in the golf world, so that was cool.”
Hopefully Curry or another pro sports star plays in an event again.
Although he didn’t win he brought a lot of attention to the Web.com tour event.
